Quintin led a major research project in collaboration with Hult International Business School and the Ethical Trade Initiative to understand the issues around Modern Slavery, during the time that the Modern Slavery Act became legislation in the UK. The research showed that companies at the end of global supply chains - often major retailers - found that exploitation was often linked to issues migrant workers experienced during recruitment. There was also a lack of transparency of the issues both to the customer companies and the individuals who get caught up in them.
Around the same time, Quintin met a number of Kenyan and Ugandan workers in the Gulf, and started working with them to develop "Just Good Work" ( https://justgood.work/ ), an app to help organisations and individuals tackle this transparency problem - to track the problem at its source and better inform workers to prevent problems. He has chosen to use software engineers that have been trained in a YWAM-sponsored technology college in Uganda, Refactory (www.refactory.ug), partly because Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the target areas for vulnerable individuals.
Quintin will tell the story of the company so far.
